“I am what I want to be”: a poetic journey takes place in Portugal

On 21 June, the Association Teatro da Vila presented the show ‘Eu Sou Aquilo Que Quiser Ser’ at the Rui Guerreiro Municipal Auditorium in Pinhal Novo.

The session took place as part of the European project SDIT - Self-Determination & Inclusion by Theatre, in partnership with Inovar Autismo.

The show's original text was written by Bárbara Vicente, from the Association Teatro da Vila, especially for this project, giving voice to unique experiences of identity and expression.

This show is a celebration of identity, freedom of being and the diversity of human expression.

On stage, the performers took the audience on a sensory and poetic journey, without ever directly mentioning autism but inviting reflection on different ways of being, communicating and feeling the world.

Voice, silence, music and movement were the elements that embodied a clear message: everyone has the right to be whatever they want to be, at their own pace and in their own way.

With ‘Eu Sou Aquilo Que Quiser Ser’, the Associação Teatro da Vila reaffirms its commitment to truly accessible, representative and transformative theatre.
